Young Women's World Forum
Girls worldwide say “Together we can
change our world”
The first Young Women’s World Forum in
2010 hosted by Girlguiding UK, will be held at Heythrop Park,
Oxfordshire and will be an opportunity for two young women
aged 18-25 from each WAGGGS Member Organisation to represent their
country and discuss the United Nations’ Millennium
Development Goals.
These discussions will pay
particular attention to the WAGGGS global action theme: girls
worldwide say “together we can change our world”. Following a poll
of WAGGGS members from around the world about which of the UN
Millennium Development Goals are most important to them, the
agenda for the Young Women's World Forum will focus on ending
hunger, gender equality and environmental sustainability.
Applications are now open
Girlguiding UK members aged
16-30 at the time of the event will have the opportunity to
volunteer as Event Assistants, Facilitators or Interpreters /
Translators at the Young Women’s World Forum.
Visit the Volunteer on the Service Team page for further
details about these volunteer roles. Keep visiting this website to
find out how to apply to be a delegate at the Forum.
Held from Tuesday 19 to
Sunday 24 October 2010 during the week of the Centenary Finale, delegates and
volunteers will have the opportunity to take part in the 20:10
20/10 2010 Finale moment! However, the Young Women’s World Forum is
not just a Centenary celebration, but a way to look to the future
and consider how guiding can continue to develop. Bringing young
women together to create a shared vision for Girl Guiding, Girl
Scouting, and the world, the Forum will empower delegates to effect
change for themselves and others.
