Waddow Fever 2010
Catalogue number 61
This event has taken place.
Waddow Hall Training and Activity Centre, Lancashire
Saturday 2 to Sunday 3 January 2010
Billed as an 'Ultimate Survival Camp' Waddow Fever
certainly felt the chill...
Over 200 Guides and Senior Section members took on the challenge of
camping overnight in 3 inches of snow
and temperatures remaining below zero! Some were
experiencing Guide camp for the first time and even for the more
experienced the snowy conditions added that extra magic.
'We chose Fever from the Ways to Celebrate catalogue
because it looked fun, different and a cool way to start our
Centenary year without having to spend much money... spending the
last weekend of the school holidays in the snow has been amazing!'
Rebekah Diamond, North Dulwich Rangers.
Activities included low ropes, archery, trampolining, a wide
game, crafts and of course sledging on bags, groundsheets, sleeping
mats and anything else that was to hand! The Waddow staff and
volunteers were there throughout the night to make sure the
event ran smoothly and braved the subzero temperatures in the
Waddow teepee.
'The craziest thing was sitting around the campfire in the snow
and I loved the fireworks because we've never had them at camp
before' Emily Boyce, North Dulwich Rangers.
'Fever was definitely better and colder than we expected!' 5th
All Saints Guides and Rangers.
'What a way to start the Centenary off. My guides will
certainly remember it for years to come and I am sure the snow
just made it extra special!' Rachel Lamond, 1st Knayton and
Borrowby Guides
