What is it?
Our trip will start in the beautiful city of Vancouver. From
there we travel north along the Gold Rush Heritage Trail to the
heart of British Columbia and across the Chilcotin Plateau. There
we shall meet up with our pack horses and the local cowboy family
to guide us along the original Indian trading trails passing
through the Rainbow Range, home to the largest caribou herd. We'll
visit large salmon rivers and perhaps see grizzly bears, bald
eagles and even a black bear. We end our adventure with a
conservation project in a Native Indian Reserve before returning to
the bright lights of Vancouver.
Who can go?
Members aged 16 to 25.
Where is it?
British Columbia, Canada.
When is it?
Saturday 14 August to Wednesday 1 September 2010.
What else do I need to know?
Includes rough travel and remote camping. Suitable for those with
experience of walking in the mountains of the UK. You need good
basic fitness to comfortably undertake a five- or six-hour walking
day with a 6–8kg rucksack on two or three consecutive days.
