Guiding's Centenary is here!
It’s been 100 years since those determined girls marched into
Crystal Palace and since then guiding has travelled all the way
around the globe, with 10 million members worldwide, it is the
biggest organisation for girls and young women in the world.

World One Beat was a huge success. Many of you from all the
different Countries and Regions took part in this exciting national
festival of performing arts.

Our Centenary year has been full of
mountain-top moments so far, with many more to come and we want to
let everyone know what yours was.

Throughout our Centenary year we will be celebrating the impact
guiding has had on girls’ and womens’ lives, and society in
general, by looking at our heritage and sharing experiences from
the last 100 years of guiding. Girls and young women can celebrate
100 years of memories by gathering and sharing guiding stories and
add them to the Story Bank.

Preparations for
Vision – the Centenary Finale are now in full swing. Vision has
its own key themes and you can find out more by visiting the
Centenary Finale section on the website. Don’t
forget to register your Vision event.
If you have held a Centenary event in your
unit, District, Division or County, don’t forget to tell us about
your event by filling out a
news-gathering guide and your event could appear on the
Centenary website.
Centenary key messages card
A Centenary version of the key message card is now available to
download. The card, which provides modern and historic examples of
each perception key message, was included in the March
2009 issue of guiding magazine.
Girlguiding UK members can use the card, with local modern
examples of the key messages in action, as a handy tool when
talking about the Centenary. Download the
