Over 2,000 members from four divisions in Plymouth and the surrounding area attended a Centenary Launch event on Plymouth Hoe.

Highlights included the formation of a human ‘100’ in front of Smeaton’s Tower. The resulting photograph, taken from the top of the tower, was used in the Sunday Express, and is also in the November issue of guiding magazine.

Girls then took part in many different activities, including a massive picnic with African drums, a Samba band, and other fun features. They also went on boat trips around the harbour, and took part in a decorated bus cavalcade through the centre of Plymouth. Meanwhile, the Big Screen in the City Centre played the Centenary DVD all afternoon.

The event was attended by the Lord Mayor of Plymouth as well as Devon County Commissioner Susan Bullock and Assistant County Commissioner Deborah Holton.
