Girls and young women from Scotland joined over 550,000 girls and women for the UK's biggest birthday bash of the year - the launch of Girlguiding UK's Centenary celebrations.

The celebrations commenced with a Centenary procession of 100 girls representing all sections of Girlguiding Scotland. The procession took place down Edinburgh's Royal Mile, where they were all joined by the Chief Guide, Liz Burnley. It started at Parliament Square West in the High Street and finished outside the Scottish Parliament. Here Girlguiding Scotland’s special guests cut the Centenary Cake, before girls from Edinburgh and Lothian performed Girlguiding Scotland’s specially commissioned Centenary Scottish Country Dance: ‘A Hundred Thousand Welcomes’.
