International Contingents
Applications are invited from all members of the World
Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS). There is the
opportunity for 2000 Girl Guides or Girl Scouts to attend the camp
with their leaders.
The week-long event will be an amazing experience for Guides,
Girl Scouts and leaders alike, offering a huge choice of exciting
activities, both on and off the site, and the chance to forge some
lifelong friendships with Guiding members from across the world.
The camp will be one of the highlights of Centenary celebrations in
the UK and, as such, will be a spectacular event with lots of
"mountain top moments".
Applications
We are willing to accept contingent bid forms from both Member
Organisation contingents, Association contingents and open
contingents, however priority will be given initially to one group
from each Association of a Member Organisation. Boys from WAGGGS
mixed Member Organisations will be able to attend the Centenary
camp, although it will be primarily a girl event.
Groups applying need to be a minimum of four Girl Guides/Scouts
aged 12-16 (at the time of camp) to one adult (4:1 ratio) to a
maximum of 12 Guides to three adults. Provision will be made for
applicants with disabilities.
The form can be downloaded on this page and the back of the form
explains the process and conditions of application. Forms have been
provided in both word and pdf format for your ease of completion.
The closing date for contingent bids is the 31st Jan 2010.
Contingents will be informed about the status of their bid
within four weeks of receipt of the bid form, and it is only later
in the year that we will need to know the names of
participants.
Cost
The cost of attending the camp is £420 per Girl Guide/Scout
participant, with adults accompanying participants paying £320. If
a support assistant is required for a member with disabilities, the
cost will be £220.
The camp fee includes all food and activities, and the intention
is to provide a special edition Centenary Camp tent and other
items. It also includes entrance to Fusion - a spectacular way to
celebrate the Centenary, being held at Harewood House during that
week.
Harewood House is situated in Yorkshire, northern England about
two hours journey by train, or a one hour flight from London.
International visitors can arrange to be collected from either York
Railway station or Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) for a small
additional fee.
For those groups who wish to extend their stay in the UK after
the camp, the International team will be able to provide
information on further accommodation and travel.
