What was the Centenary Camp?
A beautiful stately home, thousands of UK Guides and
their international guests, Fusion,
exclusive Centenary Camp tents and the most amazing choice of
activities - the Girlguiding UK Centenary Camp was a
once-in-a-lifetime chance to BE THERE at Girlguiding UK’s biggest
ever Guide camp.
Participants took part in inspirational
opening and closing ceremony, Fusion and four days of activities
covering every aspect of the Guide programme, the Girlguiding UK
Centenary Camp promised to be an international camp like no other,
creating special memories to last a lifetime.
The camp was held at Harewood House, near
Leeds, North Yorkshire, home of the Earl of Harewood. It was
also the home of his mother HRH Princess Mary, The Princess Royal,
who became President of The Girl Guide Association in 1920.

Centenary Camp News
Snow fun in August
Centenary Camp has one promise: to get Guides
camping like they’ve never camped before, but for at least one
group of Guides from the sunny Caribbean island of Antigua, this
camp really will give them a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Amazingly they had the chance to see, touch,
and play with real snow for the first time in their lives. Guides
who have chosen to take part in the snow tubing activity will be
using a giant rubber ring to hurtle down a slide of real snow. This
was especially transported to camp to give girls a unique
opportunity – sledging in August! View full

Camp welcomes children from Martin House Hospice
Today children from Martin House, located in nearby Wetherby,
will experience life as a Guide, during a tour of the site. Martin
House provides care and support, free of charge, to children and
young people with a life-limiting condition and their families.
Over the next week activities will be taking place in the sub-camps
and around the entire site to raise money for Martin House.

The Great Sleepover at Centenary Camp
The Brownie and Guide sleepover began with a flurry of activity
and the eager banging of tent pegs at the Tiger’s Eye sub-camp on
Tuesday. Most of the Brownies had never camped before and so even
putting up tents was a totally new experience.
More than 600 Brownies and Guides joined in with many of the
evening activities, as well as exploring the huge grounds
surrounding Harewood House and a visit to Fusion.
