Guides Celebrate
The Centenary year is a year long celebration of 100 years of
guiding.
It’s been 100 years since the rally at Crystal Palace where several
small groups of girls approached Lord Baden–Powell and asked for
‘something like the Scouts’ but for girls only.
During our Centenary year, Guides are spoilt
for choice with a host of events and holidays designed just for
them. A chance for you to have more fun than ever before!
The Great Guide
Getaway will give Guides the chance to explore and experience
new things in the UK and overseas, with lots of laughs along the
way!
Venture Abroad is proud to be
a sponsor of The Great Guide Getaway and
to be working in partnership with Girlguiding UK to create an
exciting and memorable tour to Switzerland for the Centenary year.
There are many overseas
Get Away trips – some are for groups of Guides and some you can
go it alone, making lots of new friends along the way.
Destinations include:
As well as some great trips abroad, closer to home there are
some great days out at popular attractions like Alton Towers, PGL adventure
centres and to ICANDO in London.
There are also some great weekend getaways at
the Girlguiding UK Training and Activity
Centres (TACs) such as Film making
and Motor Mayhem at Foxlease.
Not to mention the extra special Centenary Big
Gig in October 2009 and the Centenary Camp
in 2010.
